Wera 160 i VDE: The Screwdriver That Passed 10,000 Volts So You Only Face 1,000
Every one of these screwdrivers gets individually tested at 10,000 volts in a water bath before it leaves the factory — not sampled from a batch, not spot-checked, individually — and only then does it earn the IEC 60900 stamp for safe work up to 1,000 volts. The full 160 i range from a slim 2.5 mm cabinet-work blade up to the 10 mm shop hammer of the family, because "insulated" shouldn't mean "compromise": this is still a genuine Kraftform Plus tool.
The multi-component handle pairs smooth hard zones for rapid spinning with soft grip zones that translate your hand strength directly into torque, sized in proportion to the blade so small tips stay precise and big ones stay powerful. From the 0.8 mm blade up, the Wera Lasertip literally bites into the screw head — a micro-roughened surface that reduces contact pressure, fights cam-out, and keeps you from slipping into something live. The Take-it-easy tool finder color-codes each size and stamps it on the handle, so the electrician's equivalent of rummaging happens by eye instead of by hand. And the hexagonal flats mean it stays on the bench when you set it down, even at -40°C impact-tested toughness.
Key Features
- Individually tested at 10,000 V per IEC 60900, certified for safe work up to 1,000 V
- Wera Lasertip micro-textured blade tip bites into the screw head and prevents slipping (0.8 x 4 mm sizes and up)
- Kraftform Plus multi-component handle: hard zones for speed, soft zones for torque
- Take-it-easy tool finder — color coding and size stamping for instant identification
- Hexagonal anti-roll protection keeps the driver where you set it
- Conical VDE blade, impact strength tested at -40°C, made in the Czech Republic
Note: the three precision sizes (2.5 mm, 3 mm, 3.5 mm) come with a smooth tip rather than Lasertip — Wera's build, not a shortcut.
